Welcome to the SNOW LAKE boating season and the summer of 2025! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and are as excited as I am to dive into the new season.

The annual meeting will be at the Fremont Library on JUNE 14th at 9am

Click for directions here: 1004 Toledo St, Fremont, IN 46737

PLEASE plan to attend this meeting as we discuss:

Increased lake patrol  |  our grant from the State of Indiana for weed control  |  nominations & election of a Vice President  |   new board members  |  news from our DNR officer  |  an aquatic state of the lake update  |  increased neighborhood leader involvement and your involvement as a resident of SNOW LAKE  |  potential social events  |  a continued effort to move towards electronic communication

As we address the business of maintaining our beautiful lake, we emphasize the importance of EVERYONE paying their lake dues this year.  In the past approximately 50% of the Snow Lake residents have funded the Association initiatives supporting lake maintenance. We need the support of everyone to sustain and enhance these initiatives which ensure the safety, enjoyment and the residential value the lake provides all of us.  Please encourage your neighbors to contribute their dues every year. Annual dues are $50 and contributions exceeding this amount are greatly appreciated.

These funds are crucial for the upkeep and health of SNOW LAKE.

    They help us with:

Combating invasive weeds  |  Conducting essential water testing  |  Oiling geese and swan eggs  |  Purchase and maintenance of channel markers  |  And more!

Membership dues are payable online at https://snowlake.wildapricot.org/Membership or can be mailed to SLCA PO Box 661 Fremont, IN 46737. (Online highly encouraged for access to ongoing communications & streamlined administration.)

Please consider supplementing your dues with a contribution to the scholarship and/or Lake James 4th of July fireworks fund.  You can do this on the website via the donations page at https://snowlake.wildapricot.org/Donate or adding a memo to your check.

Thanks to all of you who were in attendance at the annual Snow Lake Cottager’s Association Meeting on June 15.  For those not in attendance here is a short recap:

Through your generous contributions we were able to award $500 scholarships to Chloe Hillvers and Paige Baker.

We had a lively discussion regarding our contributions to the Lake James Fireworks show as well as the push to get more members in the Association.

Allison reviewed the new website and the capabilities of the Wild Apricot product.

Dina Augoustis Zion was elected as the new Secretary and will assume that role in January 2025.  Congratulations Dina!

Steve Schroeder from Steuben County Lakes Council provided an overview of Council activities.

There were many great ideas put forward by the appropriately 50 people in attendance that the board will take into consideration in the coming days and months.  Great ideas never blossom to activities without support from the membership.  I encourage you all to become a member if you aren’t already and get involved.

Together we make Snow Lake better!

    See you on the Lake,

    Gus

As the board of the Snow Lake Cottagers Association moves into the summer, we are excited to share what we have been working on this winter! We have a plan to enhance our annual newsletter and membership collection to support our lake and connect all of us as a community more effectively. We spend considerable time and expense in producing the “Scuttlebutt” via the traditional print and mail method. In order to modernize our communication, we are moving to a full service web site for information sharing, emailed newsletters, membership management and dues collection. We will continue to provide a mailing option for annual dues (downloadable from the website or Facebook) and share updates on Facebook and Instagram. We look forward to building a connected community with YOU!

Please join us in our NEW! process of submitting your dues, scholarship donations, and firework donations online. If mail works better for you, please find the traditional form on the last page of the newsletter for you to mail in. THANK YOU to all that engage and participate in our lake association to keep our lake beautiful and safe for all of us to enjoy.

Our General Meeting will be on June 15 at the Moose Lodge. at 9am.

Fremont Moose Lodge: 2051 Toledo Street Fremont, Indiana 46737

! I look forward to seeing you. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at gusreed59@gmail.com or text me (937) 751-7780

    Take care, see you soon,
